Superintendent Losquadro, Councilman LaValle Announce Paving of Eastwood Boulevard and Surrounding Roadways

Centereach, NY – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilman Kevin LaValle have announced the resurfacing of Eastwood Boulevard, as well as a portion of Hawkins Road and several surrounding roadways in Centereach.

During this paving project, a substantial amount of concrete improvements were made before the resurfacing could commence. Crews removed and replaced just over 3,450 linear feet of damaged concrete curbing, 2,587 square feet of concrete sidewalk and approximately 2,800 square feet of concrete aprons at a cost of $238,924 paid for by the Brookhaven Highway Department. In addition 1,464 square feet of handicap ramps were removed and replaced on Eastwood Boulevard to meet the standards required by the Americans with Disabilities Act; the portion of the project involving ADA-compliance was paid for with a Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $41,510.

The total cost for this paving project, including the milling and paving of the roadways, was approximately $933,250.

In addition to Eastwood Boulevard from Hawkins Road to Middle Country Road, the following roadways were also resurfaced: Marta Court, Circle Drive, School Street, a portion of Hawkins Road and Stirrup Lane.

Superintendent Losquadro said, “All of these roadways had deteriorated over the years. I’m happy we were able to include them in our 2020 paving season, providing motorists, pedestrians and area residents with a safer, smoother ride.”

Councilman LaValle said, “Thank you to the Highway Superintendent for making Eastwood Boulevard and Hawkins Road a priority in the 2020 paving season. The Town is committed to improving the quality of life of our residents by completing more infrastructure projects like this in the future.”
