Superintendent Losquadro, Councilman LaValle Announce Completion of Two Selden Paving Projects Totaling 1.7 Million Dollar

Centereach/Selden, NY – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilman Kevin LaValle have announced the completion of two major paving projects in the Centereach/Selden area totaling $1.7 million. Heavily-traveled Boyle Road was resurfaced from Middle Country Road to Hawkins Road, along with 19 roadways in a residential neighborhood just west of Boyle Road in Centereach and Selden.

During the first project along Boyle Road, crews removed and replaced just over 1,235 linear feet of damaged concrete curbing, 3,968 square feet of concrete sidewalk and approximately 2,060 square feet of concrete aprons at a cost of $130,198 paid for by the Brookhaven Highway Department. In addition, 3,134 square feet of handicap ramps were removed and replaced to meet the standards required by the Americans with Disabilities Act; the portion of the project involving ADA-compliance was paid for by a Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $88,477. The cost to resurface Boyle Road and Coronet Court, a small cul-de-sac off of Boyle, was $339,637. The total cost for this project was $558,312.

In the second project, crews removed and replaced nearly 3,600 linear feet of concrete curb, more than 11,850 square feet of concrete sidewalk, and nearly 12, 650 square feet of concrete aprons at a cost of $438,382. Additionally, 18 roadways were completely resurfaced, including Buick Drive, Corvette Road, Hawk Drive, Fury Drive, Executive Road, Majestic Road, Anne Drive, Rocket Court, Savoy Court, Pontiac Road, Franco Avenue, Catherine Drive, Don Lane, Victor Avenue, Starfire Drive, Fiesta Drive, Lancer Road and Pontiac Court. The total cost for this paving project was approximately $1,156,000.

Superintendent Losquadro said, “Boyle Road is a very busy, main, arterial roadway in Selden. Coupled with the roadways paved in the residential neighborhood off of Boyle, we are making a great deal of progress and improving infrastructure in this area of the Town.”

Councilman LaValle said, “I want to thank the Highway Superintendent for making this project a priority in this year’s paving schedule.  Infrastructure projects are extremely important to our residents, and as a Town Board we need to remain focused on funding infrastructure projects like this to continue improving the quality of life of our residents in the Town of Brookhaven.”
