Mt. Sinai, NY – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilwoman Jane Bonner have announced the resurfacing of three heavily-traveled roadways in Mt. Canal Road was paved from the east intersection of Salisbury Run to County Road 83 (Patchogue Mt. Sinai Road); concrete work prior to paving was completed by in-house crews. The total cost of this paving project was $190,220.
Mt. Sinai Coram Road was paved from County Road 83 to North Country Road. Paving preparation work included the replacement of seven handicap ramps and aprons in the vicinity of Heritage Park, as well as the reconstruction of the traffic signal by the Mt. Sinai Fire Department on Mt. Sinai Coram Road (at a cost of $125,000). The total cost for this project was approximately $325,000.
Pipe Stave Hollow Road was paved from Route 25A to North Country Road in Miller Place at a total cost of $230,200; an additional section of Pipe Stave Hollow Road, from North Country Road to Enchanted Woods Court, was paved separately and funded with a $317,000 grant through the New York State Department of Transportation.
The total cost to mill and pave these three main roadways and reconstruct the traffic signal was just over $1 million.
“These three main arteries in Mt. Sinai are heavily traveled and were in great need of resurfacing,” said Superintendent Losquadro. “I am glad we were able to include them in our 2018 paving season budget.”
Councilwoman Jane Bonner said, “Making our roads safe is a top priority and I continue to work with Superintendent Losquadro to identify those most in need of repaving and other improvements. I thank the men and women of the Highway Department for getting this work done and for the great job they do in my Council District and throughout the Town of Brookhaven.”
