In addition to the milling and paving of 23 roads, this project involved extensive concrete work prior to paving. Crews installed more than 18,000 square feet of aprons and 5,000 linear feet of curb at a cost of $487,338. With the milling and paving costs of $1,214,313, the total cost for this paving project was $1.7 million.
Roads paved during this project include Duck Hill Road, Hale Street, Iowa Street, Peacock Court, Pennaquid Road, Pheasant Valley Drive, Rudys Lane, Sandpiper Lane, Village Court, Wedgewood Drive, Westmoylan Lane, Wicket Street, Willowood Lane, Windover Lane, Winside Lane, Windsor Court, Winter Way, Wintergreen Drive, Winterling Street, Woodridge Lane, Wyman Court, Wyngate Lane and Wynville Court.
Superintendent Losquadro said, “Because of the size of this neighborhood – and the state of deterioration of so many of the roadways – it was necessary to split this paving project into two phases. After completing phase one last year, I was happy to return to this neighborhood to complete phase two this paving season. During the past two years, 42 roadways in this neighborhood were resurfaced at a cost of $3 million.”
Councilwoman Bonner said, “This was a very big project undertaken by the men and women of the Highway Department, but now these roads are much safer to travel. It’s all part of a bigger plan to improve infrastructure throughout the Town of Brookhaven and I will continue to work with Superintendent Losquadro to identify roads in need of repaving in my Council District.”
Resident Donna Smosky said, “The residents of the W-section of Tanglewood Hills are thrilled with our beautiful, safe, new roads and appreciate the Brookhaven Town Highway Department keeping us apprised of the progress during this two-year project.”
