SUPERINTENDENT LOSQUADRO AND COUNCILMAN LAVALLE ANNOUNCE COMPLETION OF 11 ROAD PAVING PROJECTS IN CENTERREACH AND FARMINGVILLE

The total cost for this project, which in addition to milling and paving included the inspection and repair of more than 200 area drains, as well as concrete improvements completed primarily by in-house crews, was approximately $850,000. The resurfacing of four of the roadways in this paving project—Carriage Lane, Cedar Brook Circle, Horseblock Road, and South Howell Avenue—was federally-funded with a $250,000 grant through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant Program.
In addition to the four roads paved with the grant, roads paved during this project include: Blydenburgh Road, Equestrian Court, Hettys Path, Horseblock Place, Leeds Blvd., Lopa Court, and South Coleman Road.
“This project involved a substantial amount of concrete and drainage work prior to paving,” Superintendent Losquadro said. “Brookhaven Highway Department crews were able to complete the majority of the maintenance work in-house, leading to a substantial cost savings.”
Councilman LaValle said, “I thank Superintendent Losquadro and the Highway Department for repaving Horseblock Road and the surrounding roads, making it safer for all who use them. The Town is committed to improving our infrastructure and we will be completing more projects like this in the future.”
