SUPERINTENDENT LOSQUADRO AND COUNCILMAN FOLEY ANNOUNCE COMPLETION OF PATCHOGUE PAVING PROJECT

Patchogue, NY – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilman Neil Foley have announced the completion of a nine-road paving project in Patchogue. Caption: Superintendent Losquadro and Councilman Foley at the intersection of Cayuga Road and Debbie Lane in Patchogue.

Three of the roadways in this project – Debbie Lane, Patricia Road and Sharon Drive – required full depth reclamation (FDR).  A process reserved for roads with the most severe deterioration, FDR involves the total replacement and removal of a roadway, with 100% recycling of the old pavement, which essentially turns the old road into the new base. The remaining six roadways – Cayuga Lane, Cheryl Lane, Gale Lane, Gina Court, Russell Lane, and Yale Road – were milled and paved. The total cost for this paving project, which also included extensive concrete work, was $460,000.

“The full depth reclamation process is an efficient, cost-effective way to resurface roadways that are in extremely poor condition,” said Superintendent Losquadro. “The process consists of pulverizing existing roadway with a machine that resembles a large rototiller and recycling the material to stabilize the existing soil and create a new base. This extensive project drastically improved the conditions of these roadways and will provide long-term relief to motorists and residents in the surrounding community.”

Councilman Foley said, “Thanks to Superintendent Losquadro and the men and women of the Highway Department, so many more Town roads are being re-paved, making them safer for everyone. It’s a top priority in my district, and I will continue to work with him to identify those that need to be done.”
