Brookhaven Highway Department Completes Resurfacing of 2.3-Mile Stretch of Whiskey Road

Ridge/Middle Island, NY – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro, Councilwoman Jane Bonner and Councilman Michael Loguercio have announced the resurfacing of a 2.3-mile stretch of Whiskey Road from Ridge Road in Ridge to County Road 21 in Middle Island.

Prior to paving the roadway, crews inspected and repaired drains and installed additional drainage to mitigate flooding issues in low points along the roadway. In addition, the road was raised at several locations to ensure the water moves to the existing and new drains. The total cost for this paving project was $660,980.

“Whiskey Road is a major artery in Brookhaven Town and was in need of resurfacing,” Superintendent Losquadro said. “With the drainage improvements that were made, it is now smoother and safer for motorists and bicyclists.”

“Whiskey Road is a roadway many of us use every day, and these improvements will make a real difference for our neighbors,” Bonner said. “By fixing the drainage and giving the road a much-needed resurfacing, we’re helping families, commuters and bicyclists travel more safely. I want to thank our Highway Department for listening to residents’ concerns and delivering a project that benefits the whole community.”

Councilman Loguercio said, “Thank you to our Highway Department for another job very well done, on a huge project that reached across two council districts.”
