Selden, NY – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilman Kevin LaValle have announced the completion of a 19-road paving project in a residential Selden neighborhood.

In addition to the milling and paving of 19 roads, this project involved extensive concrete work prior to paving. Crews installed nearly 6,000 square feet of sidewalk, 700 square feet of handicap ramps and 25,295 square feet of aprons at a cost of $656,900. With the milling and paving costs of $1,092,386, the total cost for this paving project was $1.75 million.

Roads paved during this project include Carston Street West, Catalina Lane, Corvair Lane, Dart Drive, Durst Drive, Fairlane Court, Fairlane Drive, Henry Avenue, Imperial Drive, King Avenue, Mallard Avenue, Newtown Avenue, Riviera Drive, Ruland Road, South Mallard Avenue, South Newtown Avenue, South Ruland Road, Tilden Avenue, and Village Lane.

Superintendent Losquadro said, “Many of the roads in this paving project had severely deteriorated. Ruland Road, which is located in a school zone, was resurfaced before school began and separately from the remaining roads, to ensure minimal disruption to those accessing Newfield High School.”

Councilman LaValle said, “Superintendent Losquadro and the men and women of the Highway Department have made a commitment to make our roads better and safer. I will continue to support their efforts and work closely with them to identify the roads in my district that need repaving and other upgrades.”
