Prior to milling and paving, crews installed 110 linear feet of new curb, 1,050 square feet of new sidewalk and 324 square feet of new ADA-compliant handicap ramps. In addition, 475 linear feet of existing curb was repaired and replaced, along with 80 square feet of sidewalk, 1319 square feet of handicap ramps and 270 square feet of aprons. The total cost for this paving project was approximately $270,000.

Superintendent Losquadro said, “This project involved extensive concrete work around William Floyd Elementary School. Thanks to Suffolk County Legislator Rudy Sunderman and New York State Assemblyman Fred Thiele, who advocated and secured funding for additional sidewalks to be constructed on the roadways surrounding the William Floyd Elementary School, we will be able to return to this area next year and ensure the area is safer for the many pedestrians, residents, students and staff of the William Floyd School District who travel these roadways on a daily basis.

Councilman Panico said, “The community appreciates the resurfacing of these roadways and I thank Superintendent Losquadro for focusing on this area.”
