13 Oct Superintendent Losquadro and Councilman Panico Announce Completion of Two Paving Projects in Manorville Mastic and Shirley

Manorville, NY – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilman Daniel Panico have announced the completion of two large paving projects in Manorville, Mastic and Shirley.

During the first project, which involved substantial concrete improvements, crews milled and paved Moriches-Middle Island Road from Weeks Avenue in Manorville to William Floyd Parkway in Shirley. Prior to paving, more than 2,000 linear feet of concrete curb was replaced or installed; more than 4,300 square feet of sidewalk was replaced or installed; 3,275 square feet of handicap ramps was installed; and 2,815 square feet of new, residential aprons were placed. In total, the project involved the milling of 52,300 square yards of roadway and the placement of 6,120 tons of asphalt, at a total cost of $691,785.

The second project involved the milling and paving of five Manorville roadways – Chapman Boulevard, Jerusalem Hollow Road, Railroad Avenue, Russell Street, and a portion of the North Sunrise Service Road. During this project, crews milled 68,582 square yards of roadway and placed 7,910 tons of asphalt, at a total cost of $612,820.

“I was thrilled to include these heavily traveled roadways in our 2018 paving budget,” said Superintendent Losquadro. “In addition to the resurfacing of the roadway, the concrete repairs and installations made along Moriches-Middle Island Road have made it safer for pedestrians, motorists and bicyclists.”
