Coram, NY – Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro is continuing to improve the Department’s fleet by bringing in twelve new, heavy duty six wheel dump trucks that are fully equipped for this winter season. These new trucks will replace older, outdated vehicles that require regular repairs.
“The older a truck gets, the more expensive it is to maintain it and keep it on the road consistently,” Superintendent Losquadro said. “All of the new trucks are fitted with sanding and salting equipment as well as plows. My goal is to provide the most reliable equipment year round to better serve Brookhaven residents.”
The new trucks all come with a five year, 100,000 mile warranty, saving the Town time and money on maintenance costs while also increasing Department efficiency. The older trucks will be auctioned off and proceeds from the sales will be used to offset the expense of the new vehicles.
“Last season the Brookhaven Highway Department rose to the challenge of keeping roads safe and passable during the second highest snow accumulation total in recent history,” Superintendent Losquadro said. “While I am certainly hoping for a milder winter, the Highway Department is ready to handle whatever Mother Nature brings our way.”
