BROOKHAVEN HIGHWAY WELL PREPARED FOR LATEST WINTER STORM

Coram, NY - The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that remains in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday, February 10. Freezing rain will mix with sleet this morning, with snow mixing in this afternoon and becoming the more dominant precipitation late this afternoon through the evening. This will result in dangerous travel conditions due to snow and ice accumulations, along with limited visibility.

“The Brookhaven Highway Department has been out since early this morning sanding and salting Town roadways,” Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro said. “Due to the frequency of the past several storms and the amount of material we used to clear the roads, I secured sand and salt deliveries all last week and through the weekend to ensure we have enough on hand for whatever Mother Nature throws our way. Our fleet is fully operational and we are prepared to address all of Brookhaven’s 3,350 miles of roadways.”

If you must be out driving, please be safe and proceed with extreme caution. Should you have any Highway related issues, please call (631) 451-9200.
